What current year are you in?

Senior

Why did you join robotics?

A friend wouldn’t stop bothering me to join and I finally caved.

What made you stay?

My first year I didn’t feel like I did much, so I came back to do more and to see friends I made.

How do you feel you contribute to the team?

Well obviously I run the website, but I also feel like I can contribute things such as showing the new kids the ropes and making sure they have someone to confide in.

What have you learned over the years?

How to manage a website, how much work goes in behind the scenes of robotics, not just the robots but the sponsors and the social medias.

Favorite memory in Robotics?

After the Vulcan safety meeting, we played Jeopardy with the information we learned and then had chicken after.

Fun fact about yourself?

I want to major in Special Education, preferably in the high school setting.

How long have you been in the team?

What current year are you in?


I am a senior.



Why did you join robotics?


I am a nerd.


What made you stay?


I am still a nerd, and I also like using my hands.



How do you feel you contribute to the team?


I have innovative ideas for Build.



What have you learned over the years?


How to use and make chain, and other build team things.



Favorite memory in Robotics?


Laying under the table late at night last year.



Fun fact about yourself?


I’m the second biggest OSHA hazard on this team! (He’s kidding, obviously.)

Cyborg of the Week: Francisco Chavez

How long have you been in the team?

3 years, since sophomore year

What current year are you in?

Senior

Why did you join robotics?

Mostly to learn more about programming, I had an interest in technology.

What made you stay?

I liked the members on the team and I felt I could learn more than I already knew.

How do you feel you contribute to the team?

Before, we had 3 programmers, and we each specialized in our own program. If one of us wasn’t here, we would all fall behind because we didn’t understand what their job was. We all had to be present and dependable.

What have you learned over the years?

Programming C++, vision tracking, and before joining I didn't really understand how to program in a way that I could control things.

Favorite memory in Robotics?

Sophomore year, when we found out we were going to worlds, it was a close call and we were really pleasantly surprised.

Fun fact about yourself?

I’ve recreated the game Pong in every programming language I have learned.

Cyborg of the Week: Ben Kockevar

How long have you been in the team?

Since sophomore year.

What current year are you in?

Senior

Why did you join robotics?

My brother joined his senior year and Connelly talked about it in class and I was interested.

What made you stay?

The people who I talked to and worked with, and I was also learning new skills I would not have learned otherwise.

How do you feel you contribute to the team?

Last year I helped a lot with scouting, and programming when Christian wasn’t there. I also call transportation when no one else will.

What have you learned over the years?

The main difference between a lot of the tools we use, I also learned a lot about C++ and programming in general.

Favorite memory in Robotics.

When I slept under a chair at Worlds.

Fun fact?

I am currently recreating the game Bomberman from scratch.

Cyborg of the Week: Andres Campos

How long have you been in the team?

Since my freshman year.

What current year are you in?

Senior


Why did you join Robotics?

It seemed fun, I wanted to experience what robotics had to offer.


What made you stay?

The people.

How do you feel you contribute to the team?

I help out with the media team, I also helped out with the business plan and the Chairman’s award.

What have you learned over the years?

I learned how to cooperate better with the people around me and how to work as a team.


Favorite memory in Robotics.

When they revealed that we were going to worlds because of the wild card.

Fun fact?

I plan on going into genetics, whether it be genetic research it genetic engineering

Cyborg of the Week: Conor Mullins

How long have you been in the team?

I joined the summer before freshman year.

What current year are you in?

Senior.

Why did you join Robotics?

I joined because of a friend, who was a senior at the time.

What made you stay?

I enjoyed the environment, the people in the club, I also love working on the robots.

How do you feel you contribute to the team?

I instruct the people in Robotics how to use tools and how to build the robot in a productive manner, I am also the head mechanic and a general leader for the team.

What have you learned over the years?

I learned how to work better as a team, how to work better with people, and how to better communicate my ideas.

Favorite memory in Robotics?

It was my freshman year, at 11pm, two weeks before the end of build season. That night was the first night we finally got the ballshooter for our prototype to work.

Fun fact about yourself?

I can do a perfect cut on a miter saw in under 20 seconds, from measuring to the final cut.

How long have you been in the team?

I joined during my sophomore year.

What current year are you in?

I’m currently in my senior year.

Why did you join robotics?

I was looking to be involved in engaging and intellectual extracurricular activities that would benefit my potential of going into a STEM field.

What made you stay?

I stayed for the sense of community and family built in the team, as well as the importance of every member.

How do you feel you contribute to the team?

I’ve been reliable, helping out wherever it’s been needed, along with training new members.

What have you learned over the years?

I’ve learned how to construct things out of basic materials, I’ve also learned how to write in formal and informal manners.

Favorite memory in Robotics.

Constantly saying “we’re going to worlds” when we made it to worlds.

Fun fact.

I can square three digit numbers in my head.

How long have you been in the team?

What current year are you in?

Senior

Why did you join robotics?

A friend kept bugging me to join the team

What made you stay?

I needed an after school activity to do, and robotics was a thing to do. I came in here not knowing what to expect but it turned out to be so much fun

I put in time and go out to events to spread what our team does

What have you learned over the years?

Working with different people with different backgrounds and identities to come together for our common goal

Favorite memory in Robotics.

Our first social night, it was my first year and this night we all came together to play games and it gave me the opportunity to make new friends and become closer with my team members
